At 19 years old, Ingrid Elizabeth Gruttenfien rejected Nazism completely and gave up her language and her country forever. Branded a "traitor," she fled from the blitzkrieg, eventually finding her way to southern France. Along the way, she helped Jews escape Nazi Germany, fell in love with a French Resistance officer, and eventually left Europe with her young son to begin a life in the United States.

Decades later, after marrying Sandford J. Greenburger and having a second son, Francis, Ingrid would write a memoir called, A Private Treason: A German Memoir.

Come learn more about this complex and courageous woman through the eyes of her youngest son, Francis Greenburger.
